摘要: The present invention is an optical receiver includes: a preamplifier (2) capable of changing a conversion gain in accordance with a reception level of a received burst signal; a gain control circuit (9) capable of switching between a fast time constant and a slow time constant; and a convergence determination circuit (10) for outputting a time constant switching signal (14) in accordance with a state of the gain control circuit (9) (transient state or steady state) and a reset signal between the burst signals. This configuration can switch the time constant of the gain control circuit (9) at an appropriate timing.

摘要: A photodetector (1) converts an optical signal in the form of a burst into an electrical signal and outputs an output current, and a preamplifier (2) having a feedback resistive element (2B) amplifies the output current and outputs a voltage signal. The feedback resistive element (2B), a series circuit of a first resistive element (6) and a first switching element (9), and a series circuit of a second resistive element (7) and a second switching element (10) are connected in parallel to a gain varying circuit (3) for varying the conversion gain of the preamplifier (2). The gain varying circuit (3) generates an operation signal to close the first switching element 9 during a first gain varying period and an operation signal to close the second switching element (10) during a second gain varying period.

摘要: A preamplifier comprises negative feedback amplifying circuits (2, 3) for converting the output current signal from a light receiving element (6) into a voltage signal, and conversion gain control circuits (10, 11a, 11b) for simultaneously controlling the resistance at the feedback resistance part (4) of the negative feedback amplifying circuits (2, 3) and the resistance at the load resistance part (5) of the negative feedback amplifying circuits (2, 3) according to the output voltage signal outputted from the negative feedback amplifying circuits (2, 3). Furthermore, the feedback resistance part (4) and the load resistance part (5) comprise fixed resistance elements (41, 51) connected in parallel, MOSFET elements (42, 52), and transistors (43, 53) in diode connection.

摘要: A subscriber-side optical network unit (ONU) has a control LSI (10) for outputting a data signal and a pre-bias signal at fixed intervals, an optical transmitter-receiver (30) for producing optical output in response to these signals, and a light-emission error preventing circuit (20) for preventing light-emission error. First and second light-emission error detecting circuits (21) and (22) output an abnormality detection alarm signal when no rising edge occurs in the data signal and pre-bias signal for a prescribed period of time. An OR element (23), when receiving the abnormality detection alarm signal from at least one of the first and second light-emission error detecting circuits (21) and (22), supplies the optical transmitter-receiver (30) with a shutdown signal and halts the optical output.
