An IC card connector (10) is provided for connecting an IC card (20) having a terminal array. The connector includes a base member (12) having receptacle means (26) for receiving the IC card for movement between a preload position and a latched position. The base member has a plurality of electrically conductive contacts (16) for engaging the terminal array of the IC card. An ejector member (14) is movably mounted on the base member and is engageable with the IC card for movement therewith between the preload and latched positions. A latch (34) on the base member is engageable with the IC card for locking the IC card in its latched position. A spring (18) is operatively associated between the ejector member (14) and the base member (12) for moving the ejector member and IC card back to the preload position automatically in response to releasing the latch (34).

A low profile surface mount electrical connector is adapted for connecting an electronic component such as an IC card on a planar surface of a printed circuit board which includes circuit traces thereon. The connector has a generally flat dielectric housing overmolded about a plurality of electrical terminals. The housing has a bottom surface for mounting on the printed circuit board, an opening for receiving the IC card, and a mounting bar along one side of the opening. Each terminal includes a base overmolded in the mounting bar of the housing. A beam extends from the base and includes a surface mount section for electrical connection to a circuit trace on the printed circuit board. A contact arm is joined to the beam at a U-shaped joint and extends back over the beam. The contact arm terminates in a contact portion at the opening in the housing for electrical connection to the IC card.

The slider has guide means (42) for guiding insertion of the card in a direction (A) of mating the card with the connector (30). The slider (16) is movably mounted relative to the frame (22) for moving the card (12) therewith away from the connector (30) and ejecting the card from the apparatus.

A plurality of diskettes (54) of a greater thickness than the disc are mounted in the apertures. The diskettes have varying thicknesses and act as projections selectively positionable between the press ram and the first adjusting plate to provide further adjustment of the shut height of the first die and, in turn, the shut height of the second die.
