摘要: A machine tool 1 according to the invention comprises: a bed 11 including a base portion 12 and two side walls 13 standing on left and right sides of the base portion 12; a first saddle 16 formed of a rectangular frame member having vertical sides in a vertical direction and transverse sides in a transverse direction, both end portions of which in the transverse direction being supported on rear faces of the side walls 13 so as to be movable in a vertical direction; a second saddle 17 located within a frame of the first saddle 16 movable in the transverse direction, and having a through hole 17c penetrated in a back and forth direction; a spindle head 18 located in the through hole 17c of the second saddle 17 so as to be movable in the back-and-forth direction; a spindle 19 for retaining a tool T that is supported by the spindle head 18 such that the axis line is in parallel with the back and forth direction and the spindle 19 can rotate around the axis line; and a table 20 located on the bed 11 to place a workpiece W thereon.

In a machine tool rotational indexing device in which a swivel slide 11 loaded with a workpiece or a tool is rotationally indexably mounted in a specified rotational angle position on a fixed base 8, a large spur gear 30 is provided in an outer peripheral portion of the swivel slide 11, a small spur gear 31 meshed with the large spur gear 30 is provided on an intermediate shaft 32 arranged parallel to a rotational axis A of the swivel slide 11, a driving shaft 35 arranged in a direction perpendicular to the rotational axis A and the intermediate shaft 32 are connected to each other with a hypoid gear 45, and the large and small spur gears 30 and 31 and the hypoid gear 45 are made adjustable in position in a direction in which backlash is reduced.
