Provided are a low-expansion ceramic plate having a length of 500 mm or more, a width of 500 mm or more, and a thickness of 10 mm or less which comprises β-spodumene or β-eucryptite containing 1 to 10% by weight of a metal oxide added as a sintering aid and has a bending strength of 250 to 600 kgf/cm 2 and a low-expansion ceramic setter which comprises β-spodumene or β-eucryptite containing 1 to 50% by weight of zircon and 0.05 to 10% by weight of a metal oxide added as a sintering aid other than zircon and has voids having a diameter of 0.8 to 90 µm and a length of 8 to 90,000 µm scattered at random. The large ceramic plate possesses machinability, low expansion properties, high strength, and high-temperature creep resistance so that it may be processed by cutting, drilling, shiplap or having joint, etc. into complicated shapes demanded for the refractories of muffle furnaces and it can be used as setters of firing furnaces.
