The buffing is performed in a system having a vision module, a sidewall buffing module, an up surface buffing module, and a down surface buffing module. Each of the buffing modules are adapted for the unique shape and sizes of a footwear component to effectively and automatically buff the footwear component.

摘要： An article of footwear up surface buffing system (100) includes: a rotational brush (140) with a plurality of bristles extending outwardly from a rotational axis of the rotational brush (140); a footwear component holder (138) comprising a support surface, a first clamp (904), and a second clamp (902); a brush rotational drive (144) coupled with the rotational brush (140) to rotate the rotational brush (140) in first direction (B) and in a second direction (A) based on location of the rotational brush (140) relative to the footwear component holder (138); and a brush movement mechanism (906) effective to move the rotational brush (140) from the a heel end to a toe end of the support surface. The brush movement mechanism (906) positions the rotational brush (140) between a first distance and second distance offset from the support surface.
