This invention presents a self-fixturing structural adhesive which is capable of forming a bond of sufficient strength to be utilized in structural applications. The adhesive comprises a thermoplastic epoxy produced by the reaction of an epoxy with a reactive elastomer, and an epoxy curing agent which is reactive at ambient temperature. Such adhesives will form a green bond when applied and will cure at ambient temperature, nominally 25 o C, to form a structural strength bond.

The subject invention provides reactive hot melt adhesive compositions comprising polyurethane prepolymers which have an isocyanate index greater than one and which are prepared from a low hydroxyl number composition comprising high molecular weight polyester diols which have a relatively low melting point. These reactive hot melt adhesive compositions have a faster setting speed than conventional reactive hot melt adhesive compositions. The subject invention also provides a method for bonding articles together which uses such reactive hot melt adhesive compositions and articles which comprise the reactive hot melt adhesive compositions.
