Abstract: In an information providing method and apparatus for a vehicle, when a predetermined permission condition is satisfied in a state in which the vehicle is stopped with a brake being operated by a driver, an engine is automatically stopped. Further, after elapse of a predetermined time following the vehicle stop, when the permission condition is not satisfied i.e., a predetermined operation amount of brake is not depressed, the support information for satisfying the permission condition is notified to the driver. Furthermore, prior to elapse of the predetermined time, in a state in which the vehicle is stopped due to the brake operation and a vehicle stop keeping control is in operation, in response to decrease in the brake operation, the support information is also notified to the driver.
