The apparatus detects income- or expenditure-related operations of a machine as the income and expenditure data. Based on the income and expenditure data thus detected, the apparatus stores the amounts of the balance in memory and calculates, according to the stored amounts, the overall balance for individual machines for any arbitrary period. In the NC machine tools, because the income- or expenditure-associated operations can be detected while monitoring the execution of NC programs, it is possible to determine the operation balance of the machine on a cycle, week or month basis by multiplying the income- or expenditure-related operations with predetermined unit prices to calculate the total amounts of income and expenditure and subtracting the expenditure from the income.
