Through a controlled sequence of movements the means just mentioned form the folds situated outside one another, and thereby the hose package. The folding means are composed of plates (13,14; 15,16) which are placed adjoining one another, the plates in end regions (130,140; 150,160) adjoining one another forming corners (17,18) in a polygon presented by the respective folding means. In the respective corner region the plates are arranged at a distance from one another so as to form an opening (45) or a gap (46) respectively between themselves.
