摘要: A method and a machine are described for drying of fibrous web, especially suitable for high speed machines producing printing papers. High drying rates are obtained by subsequently pressing the two surfaces of wet web (5) onto two large diameter dryer cylinders (1, 2) heated to between 100 and 150 °C. In the first nip, the web (5) is pressed on the dryer cylinder (1) by a felted press roll (3), while an unfelted smooth roll (4) is used to press the web (5) on the second dryer (2). Drying rates obtained when practicing the invention are substantially greater than those found in conventional dryer sections. The product obtained according to this method is 30 % stronger than the conventionally dried uncalendered paper, and without calendering has a smoothness and gloss similar to those of calendered conventional papers.

Plugged sites in a permeable fabric are detected by sensing water pressure pulses occurring in the nozzle at the moment when a stream of water flowing through the nozzle contacts a plugged site on a fast running fabric. The apparatus can be used on-line to simultaneously detect plugged sites and holes on a moving pervious fabric while monitoring its water permeability properties.

摘要: L'invention concerne un procédé et une machine de séchage de bande fibreuse, adaptés notamment à des machines à vitesse rapide produisant des papiers d'impression. On obtient des vitesses de séchages élevées par compression ultérieure des deux surfaces de la bande humide (5) sur des cylindres sécheurs (1, 2) de grand diamètre chauffés entre 100 et 150 °C. Dans le premier pincement, la bande (5) est pressée sur un cylindre sécheur (1) par un rouleau de presse feutré (3) tandis qu'un rouleau lisse non feutré (4) presse ladite bande (5) sur le second sécheur (2). L'invention, lorsqu'on la met en oeuvre, permet d'obtenir des vitesses de séchage sensiblement supérieures à celles de trains de séchage classiques. Le produit obtenu selon l'invention est 30 % plus résistant que le papier non calandré séché de manière classique, et sans calandrage présente un lissé et un satiné similaires à ceux de papiers classiques calandrés.
