摘要： Apparatus for applying liquid to a running yarn (12) in a textile machine comprises a hollow body (28) providing a manifold (20) for the liquid and an elongate tube (33) extending horizontally across the manifold (20). The tube (33) is retained to a bore (32) in the body (28) by a yarn guide (29) which is detachably secured to the body (28) and the bore in tube (33) communicates with a groove yarn path (38) provided by the yarn guide (29) via a bore (31) in the yarn guide (29) of larger diameter than the bore in the tube (33). The constant supply of liquid to the yarn (12) is provided by the controlled flow of liquid along the tube (33) whose length is at least 100 times the diameter of the bore therein. A height adjustable weir (17) in a liquid supply tank (16) supplies liquid to the manifold (20) at a predetermined pressure. The yarn path (38) has a plurality of yarn contact points (39,40) to ensure complete application of liquid by the yarn (12).

摘要： The invention provides a heating assembly (40) suitable for heating a yarn (11) during a texturing process, in which the yarn (11) is guided by guides (15,16) adjacent the ends of the assembly (40) to travel therethrough without contact. The yarn (11) travels along a bore (13) in a heated body (10) of the assembly (40) which substantially surrounds the yarn (11), but has a threading groove (23) comprising a slot (20) communicating with the bore (13) and the outer surface of the assembly (40). One or more baffles (17) in, or at the ends of, the groove (23) restrict the entrainment of air along the groove (23) by the yarn (11). The baffle may be a stainless steel tube which is attached to a door (43) pivotally mounted on the assembly (40) to enter and close the slot (20), or the slot (20) may have a width at least at its inner (26) and outer ends which is just sufficient to allow threading of the yarn (11) into the assembly (40).

摘要： In a textile machine (21,33,39), a yarn heating arrangement (10,40) comprises a channel (12,42) whose bottom surface (14) is heated and a door (16,43) which closes the channel (12,42) and on whose inner surface are mounted yarn guides (19,48) providing a yarn path adjacent the heated surface (14) when the door (16,43) is closed and the yarn guides (19,48) are disposed within the channel (12,42). The length of the heated yarn path, or is closeness to the heated bottom surface (14) of the channel (12,42) is adjustable to vary the level of heating of the yarn (11), and the door (16,43) can be opened for cleaning and threading. A pivotal elongate yarn guide (35) prior to the heater (10) or pivotal elongate cooling track (25) after the heater (10) allow variation of the point of yarn (11) inlet to or yarn (11) outlet from the heater (10).
