    摘要： A paper conveying apparatus (50) includes a gate member (13), resist rollers (14), a detector (16), and a moving member (19). The gate member (13) closes a paper conveyance path to position a leading edge of paper (8). The resist rollers (14) are provided near the gate member on an upstream. side in a paper conveyance direction and timely convey the paper downstream of the gate member in the paper conveyance direction. The detector (16) is provided near the gate member on a downstream side in the paper conveyance direction and detects misalignment at an edge portion of the paper in a paper width direction perpendicular to the paper conveyance direction. The moving member (19) moves the resist rollers in the paper width direction by changing a drive mode and a relation speed of a motor (33) according to a paper misalignment amount (d) detected by the detector. The motor causes the resist rollers to move.
