摘要： A development device (20) includes a developer bearer (22) to carry the developer to a development range, a magnetic field generator (23) disposed inside the developer bearer (22) for generating magnetic force, a developer regulator (25) for adjusting an amount of the developer, a developer supply compartment (27) disposed adjacent to the developer bearer (22), separated by a side wall (43) from a portion where the developer bearer (22) is provided, a developer agitator (32) provided in the supply compartment (27), and a blocker (44) disposed above the side wall (43) of the supply compartment (27) across a supply gap through which the developer moves from the supply compartment. The magnetic field generator (23) has an attraction magnetic pole and a regulation magnetic pole. The blocker (44) prevents the developer blocked by the developer regulator (25) from moving along a magnetic force line of the regulation magnetic force toward the circumferential surface of the developer bearer (22).
