    摘要： An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a plurality of image carriers (2Y,2M,2C,2BK) arranged along a first intermediate image transfer belt (3). Toner images of different colors formed on the image carriers are sequentially transferred to the first intermediate image transfer belt (3) one above the other to complete a first image. The first image is transferred to a second image transfer belt (15) and then transferred to one side of a sheet. At the same time, a second image completed on the first image transfer belt (3) is directly transferred to the other side of the same sheet. First and second control means are respectively disposed in the loop of the first intermediate image transfer body and the loop of the second intermediate image transfer body. The apparatus of the present invention can form color images on both sides of the recording medium rapidly in accurate register.

    摘要： An image forming apparatus of the present invention is operable in a duplex print mode for printing images on both sides of a recording medium. A toner image is transferred from a first image carrier (1) to a second image carrier (10) and then transferred from the second image carrier to one side of the recording medium. Subsequently, a toner image is transferred from the first image carrier to the other side of the recording medium. After the toner image has been transferred from the first image carrier to the second image carrier, the second image carrier is moved in the reverse direction to a preselected position. The apparatus of the present invention enhances productivity in the duplex print mode. Furthermore, the polarity of the charge of the image carried on said second image carrier (10) is inverted. The second image carrier (10) is a belt with a mechanism to prevent offset.

    摘要： An image forming apparatus that is capable of forming an appropriate image even on a special transfer sheet, such as a thick and rigid transfer sheet (e.g., a cardboard and an envelope) and a long transfer sheet, etc. In the image forming apparatus, when the thick and rigid transfer sheet is used, a transfer bias applied to first and second transfer devices is increased by about 10 to 30 % compared to that applied when a normal transfer sheet is used, and a temperature of fixing rollers is increased by about 10 to 30% compared to that when the normal transfer sheet is used. When the long transfer sheet that is longer than a circumferential length of a second image bearing member is used, an image transfer onto the second image bearing member is prohibited. In addition, the temperature of the fixing rollers is increased by about 10 to 30 % compared to that when the normal transfer sheet is used.

    摘要： An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a first and a second intermediate image transfer belt contacting each other to form a nip for secondary image transfer. While the nip is heated, a sheet is passed through the nip to thereby transfer toner images respectively formed on the first and second belts to opposite surfaces of the sheet at the same time. The nip is sized such that image transfer and fixation can be effected at temperature higher than the melting point or the softening point of toner by 5°C to 50°C.
