Abstract: The invention relates to a sensor element (116) for detecting at least one property of a gas in a measurement gas space (112), in particular for detecting a content of at least one gas component of the gas. The sensor element (116) has at least one electrode (118), which is connected via at least one reference gas channel (134) to at least one surrounding space (136). The reference gas channel (134) has a flow resistance and a diffusion resistance. A ratio m between the flow resistance and the diffusion resistance is smaller than 0.1. The reference channel usually preferably measures a non-straight part in the unheated part of the sensor.
