In addition, the invention relates to a method for supplying electric loads of an electric bicycle. According to this method, an electric drive of the electric bicycle, as one of said electric loads, is supplied by means of a control device which draws electric power from an accumulator of the electric bicycle. A further electric load is that of a light of the electric bicycle, which is supplied with electric current from a lighting circuit of the control device. A lighting monitor of the control device monitors operation by detecting the current with which the lighting circuit is supplied from the control device.
