    摘要: A friction material comprises chopped continuous mineral fibres as reinforcing fibers wherein the mineral fibres are man-made vitreous fibres and the composition of the mineral fibres comprises the following components, based on the total weight of the composition: 54.0 to 64.0 % by weight of SiO 2 ; 9.0 to 27.0 % by weight of Al 2 O 3 ; 10.0 to 29.0 % by weight of CaO + MgO; 0 to 4.0 % by weight of Na 2 O + K 2 O; 0 to less than 2 % by weight of B 2 O 3 .
    The friction material comprising said chopped continuous mineral fibres exhibits reduced noise in service and an improved wear performance. A particular suitable application of the friction material is a disk pad or brake pad.
