A device for generating a spreading code in a CDMA communication system is disclosed. In the device, an ML (Maximal Length) sequence generator generates an ML sequence according to a generator polynomial of an ML sequence having a length 2 -1 and a given initial value, and reloads the initial value whenever an ML sequence having a length shorter than the length 2 -1 is generated, to repeatedly perform an operation of generating the ML sequence. A mask selector including first and second masks having a given offset, selects the first mask in an ML sequence period and selects the second mask in the other period. A modulo-2 adder adds an output of the ML sequence generator and an output of the mask selector to generate the spreading code, and truncates the ML sequence upon receipt of the second mask.

An image reproducing apparatus and method of controlling the image reproducing apparatus are provided. The method of controlling the image reproducing apparatus includes: determining whether external power is supplied; performing a first booting operation when the external power is supplied; and controlling the image reproducing apparatus to operate in a sleep mode if an operation start signal is not received until the booting operation is completed. The method further includes controlling the image reproducing apparatus to perform a second booting operation to operate in a normal mode after an operation start signal is received. The method further includes performing a resuming operation so that the image reproducing apparatus operates in a normal mode when the operation start signal is received while the image reproducing apparatus operates in the sleep mode. The method further includes operating in an end mode when the sleep mode continues for a predetermined time or longer.

Provided are an apparatus and a method for estimating I/Q unbalance parameters in an OFDM receiver. The apparatus includes an unbalance parameter estimator and an I/Q unbalance compensator. The unbalance parameter estimator estimates an amplitude difference and a phase difference depending on positions of pilot tones in a preamble of a received signal. The I/Q unbalance compensator compensates for an I/Q unbalance using the amplitude difference and the phase difference estimated by the unbalance parameter estimator.

Disclosed are a method and apparatus for transmitting a time-discontinuous burst pilot channel being dependent on transmission data in a mobile communication system. In the apparatus, a modulator generates a modulated pilot symbol by outputting an input pilot symbol at a designated at least one of phase and on a designated complex channel according to an information bit for determining at least one of the phase and/or the complex channel, and a spreader spreads the modulated pilot symbol from the modulator with an orthogonal code selected among a plurality of orthogonal codes. The burst pilot channel transmits side information being dependent on the transmission data according to the phase, and/or the complex channel and the orthogonal code.
