摘要： A cartridge for an information recording medium includes a cartridge case (30), an opening cover (70), detachably mounted to a rear side opening of the cartridge case (30), for enabling the information recording medium (d) to be withdrawn or inserted with respect to the cartridge case (30), and a holding unit for preventing movement of the information recording medium by supporting the information recording medium when the information recording medium is received and/or withdrawn into/from the cartridge case (30). The holding unit includes a pair of elastic pressure parts (44), elastically formed on the opening cover (70), for elastically supporting the information recording medium to prevent movement of the information recording medium when the opening cover (70) is not attached to the cartridge case (30), and a release unit for releasing the pair of elastic pressure parts (44) when the opening cover is attached to the cartridge case so that the information recording medium is rotatable in the cartridge case (30). The information recording medium is accommodated and withdrawn with respect to the cartridge case (30), by attaching/detaching the opening cover (70) with respect to the cartridge case (30) while supporting the disc with the holding unit. Accordingly, a user does not need to touch the information recording medium directly to replace the information recording medium, and damage to the information recording medium caused by the user's fingerprints, scratches, etc., is prevented.

摘要： An automatic tilt compensator senses and automatically compensates for a disc deformation while an optical recording and/or reproducing apparatus operates. The automatic tilt compensator of an optical recording/reproducing apparatus has a disc deformation detecting section (40) for sensing a deformation direction and a deformation degree of a disc seated and rotated on a disc rotation unit of a deck base and for outputting a predetermined signal, and a level adjustment section (50) for elevating and lowering a pair of guide shafts (21,21') movably supporting a pickup unit (20) on the deck base (10) while being operated by the signal from the disc deformation detecting section, to thereby adjust the level of the pickup unit (20) corresponding to the deformation degree of the disc. According to this, the level of the pickup unit (20) according to the deformation direction or the deformation degree of the disc can be automatically adjusted while the optical recording/reproducing device is operated. Accordingly, even when a deformed disc is inserted, since the level of the pickup unit is automatically adjusted according to the deformed disc, errors in recording and reproducing information caused due to the deformed disc can be remarkably reduced.

摘要： An optical recording and reproducing apparatus for adjusting the tilt in accordance with the amount of jitter of a reproduction signal, a tilt adjusting method therefor, and a record control method are provided. The optical recording and reproducing apparatus includes an optical pickup (20) having an object lens (21), tilt adjusting means (28, 30, 40) for adjusting the tilt angle of the object lens (21), jitter detecting means (34) for detecting the amount of jitter of a reproducing signal generated by the optical pickup (20), and a tilt controlling unit (36) for minimizing the amount of jitter by feeding the amount of jitter detected by the jitter detecting means (34) back to the tilt adjusting means (28, 30, 40). According to the optical recording and reproducing apparatus of the present invention, there is no need for a space in which a displacement sensor detecting the tilt angle of the optical pickup faces the disk.

摘要： An adaptor (10) includes a sensor hole to be open/closed, and a method and an apparatus for driving the adaptor. The adaptor includes at least one sensor hole (51) determining the size of a disc received in an adaptor body (10) which is received via a disc holder (30). The disc holder (30) includes an elastic press (34,35) extending therefrom to elastically support the disc (20), preventing a movement of the disc until the disc holder (30) is inserted into the adaptor body (10). Further, a release (11,12) is disposed on the adaptor body (10) to release the disc (20) from the elastic press (34,35) when the disc holder (30) is inserted into the adaptor body (10). A method for driving the adaptor includes determining whether the sensor hole (53) is open; and determining the type of device inserted into a disc drive. The type of drive inserted into the disc drive is determined by the adaptor accommodating an 8-cm disc when the sensor hole (53) is open, while a cartridge accommodates a 12-cm disc when the sensor hole (53) is closed. An apparatus for driving the adaptor includes a sensing switch (81) to be selectively inserted into the sensor hole of the inserted adaptor to be turned on/off and transmit the corresponding signal regarding the open/closed state of the sensor hole to a microcomputer.
