The present invention provides a heat insulating box comprising an outer box and an inner box, the gap therebetween being filled with a hard polyurethane foam prepared by the reaction of polyols and isocyanates in the presence of a foaming agent, in which a part or the whole of the polyols comprises one or more tertiary amino alcohols represented by the following formula (I):
wherein substituents represented by R₁, which may be the same or different, each represents a straight-chain or branched alkylene group having form 2 to 24 carbon atoms, an alicyclic alkylene group, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkylene group, a substituted or unsubstituted arylene group, an aralkylene group or -(CH₂CH₂O) p -(CH₂CH₂) q - (in which p represents 0 or a positive integer and q represents a positive integer); substituents represented by R₂, which may be the same or different, each represents a straight-chain or branched alkyl group having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, an aryl group or an aralkyl group; and the average polymerization degree n represents a positive integer of 1 to 50.
