According to the invention said end plug (1) includes an outer sleeve (2) having an outer end and an inner end and said holding element is connected to said sleeve by means allowing the holding element to be axially moved from a first position to a second position, in which the holding element protrude outwardly from the outer end of said sleeve, said holding element being releasably held in said first position when moved thereto. said pattern roll (2) and printing roll (14) being synchronized so that embossing occurs mainly in the areas of the web that are not printed in said selected pattern.
