Die Erfindung betrifft allgemein ein Dünnglassubstrat, ein Verfahren sowie eine Vorrichtung zu dessen Herstellung und es wird ein Dünnglassubstrat mit verbesserter optischer Qualität, ein Verfahren sowie eine Vorrichtung zu dessen Herstellung angegeben, wobei bei dem Verfahren nach dem Schmelzen und vor einer Heißformung die Viskosität des zu formenden oder zumindest teilweise geformten Glases für das zu erhaltende Dünnglassubstrat definiert eingestellt wird und die Vorrichtung eine Einrichtung zum Schmelzen, eine Einrichtung zur Heißformung sowie eine Einrichtung zur definierten Einstellung der Viskosität des zu einem Dünnglassubstrat zu formenden Glases umfasst und die Einrichtung zur definierten Einstellung der Viskosität des zu einem Dünnglassubstrat zu formenden Glases vor der Einrichtung zur Heißformung angeordnet ist.
