    摘要: An ink jet ink composition comprises a liquid vehicle, a pigment and an aqueous anionic black dye. The addition of the dye in this ink jet composition results in a self-redispersible pigment ink for use in ink jet printers. The dye is an aqueous anionic black dye selected from the group consisting of direct dyes, acid dyes, reactive dyes, and food dyes. The self-redispersible ink is formulated from a carbon black pigment ink by adding a first amount of an aqueous anionic black dye to the carbon black pigment ink to create a modified ink. This modified ink is evaluated for self-redispersibility. Additional amounts of the aqueous anionic black dye are added to the modified ink, as needed, to create a self-redispersible modified ink for ink jet printers.

    摘要: An ink jet ink composition comprises a liquid vehicle, a pigment, and a polymer to overcome conductivity. The problem to be addressed for carbon black pigment inks is how to achieve high dried ink film resistivity while maintaining print quality. With the present invention, dried ink resistivity of aqueous pigment ink is improved by using polymers to overcome conductivity. The present invention results in significant improvement in dried film resistivity of carbon black pigment ink jet inks, sufficient to eliminate charge lead to charge lead shorts and improve machine runnability and can, therefore, be used in ink jet printers.

    摘要: A continuous ink jet system includes a linear array of orifices fluidically connected to a fluid supply and pressurization means to produce a linear array of jets, means for stimulating the jets for regular break-up of the jet into a plurality of uniform streams of drops, charging means consisting of a linear array of planar conducting elements disposed along the path of motion of the jets, one for each jet, such that placing a preselected voltage on one of the plurality of conducting elements causes an electrostatic charge to be induced on the corresponding jet, the electrostatic charge and the placement of the electrode being such that a charge drop receives a force impulse from the presence of the conducting elements, catcher means disposed to catch selected drops with predetermined charge from the charging system, return fluidic means disposed so that drops intercepted by the catcher can be returned through the fluidic system for eventual re-use in forming the jets, means for moving a substrate beneath the catcher means so that drops not intercepted by the catcher means are allowed to impact the substrate to cause printing. The invention provides the improvement of reversing the polarity of the charging means so as to create drops with positive charge.

    摘要: An ink jet ink composition is provided which permits the printing of an image with both superior fastness and high optical density, for use in continuous ink jet printers. The ink comprises an aqueous liquid medium which contains acid carbon black having a volatile content within the range of 3.5 to 8% by weight of the total weight of the carbon black, and a water-soluble resin having a weight average molecular weight within the range of 5,000 to 25,000. The weight ratio of the acid carbon black to the water-soluble resin is within the range of 2:1 to 5:1. The ink further comprises a dispersed pigment having a maximum particle size less than 1 micron and a filtration ratio greater than or equal to 0.2 through a 1.2 micron filter.
