The invention relates to a method for the wear-minimized operation of at least one installation component of an installation and to an installation with means for carrying out the said method. In order to make wear-minimized operation of components in an installation possible, the invention proposes that a sensor for state identification, which sensor is associated with the installation component, transmits a sensor signal to an evaluation unit, that the evaluation unit checks the sensor signal to ascertain whether a wear-promoting operating state is present, and that in the event of the presence of such an operating state the corresponding installation component is driven in such a way that a change in the operating state in favour of an operating state with less wear takes place. If, for example, a component is operated at its resonant frequency, it is ensured that the component is operated at a slightly different rotation speed, at which far less severe oscillations occur. This method therefore increases the life of installation components and makes optimum utilization of an installation possible with at the same time gentle treatment of the installation components.

A maximum permissible value for the runtime software is retrievably stored in one device (12). An arithmetic unit (1) determines the total value of the functional blocks of the runtime-software and a display signal (14) is given if the total value exceeds the maximum permissible value. Functional blocks and value blocks can have an OEM identification code, such that the system producer and OEM can, independently of each other, create a software protection.
