The invention relates to a grounding device (10) for an emergency power system to connect a neutral conductor (N) of a load arrangement (50) to a grounding conductor (PE) via at least one normally open contact (11.1) of a switching device (11). The grounding device (10) is characterized in that a conductor (L1) applied with voltage relative to the neutral conductor (N) can be connected to the grounding conductor (PE) via a current reducing element. In this way, as a result of the connection of the grounding conductor (PE) to the energized conductor (L1) a current path is created via the current reducing element which, starting at the energized conductor (L1), leads to the neutral conductor (N) via the grounding conductor (PE), wherein a current then flows in the current path when the grounding conductor (PE) is connected to the neutral conductor (N) via the at least one normally open contact (11.1). Within the current path, a current sensor (13) is arranged in a series connection to the at least one normally open contact (11.1) and/or to the current reducing element. The invention further relates to an emergency power system having a grounding device (10) of this type and to a method for operating the emergency power system.
