The invention relates to a print finishing machine (100) having a sheet feeding system for feeding sheets of flat material along a sheet feeding route between a sheet feeding device and a sheet delivery device, and having at least one work station arranged along the sheet feeding route for executing a processing step of a print finishing method. The sheet feeding system is arranged in a basic machine (150), which in the area of at least one interface (155) along the sheet feeding route has first coupling structures (158) for detachably coupling an exchangeable finishing module (160, 160') to the basic machine. The basic machine has at least one dedicated exchangeable finishing module (160, 160'), which can be attached to the basic machine, which has second coupling structures (168) corresponding to the first coupling structures. A finishing module is provided with an application-specific work element, which in an operational mode of the print finishing machine defines a working gap using a counter-pressure element, for performing a processing step of a print finishing machine process on a sheet of flat material being processed through the working gap.
