The present invention refers to a thermosensitive recording sheet for labeling foodstuff having direct contact with said foodstuff comprising a substrate and on one surface of said substrate at least one thermosensitive layer comprising a ferric salt and a gallic acid ester, no reaction inhibitor being present in said layer. In a further embodiment the thermosensitive recording sheet may comprise a substrate and on one surface of said substrate at least two layers comprising a ferric salt in one layer and a gallic acid ester in the other layer.
