The invention relates to a display screen comprising a background grid (1) with light-emitting background grid elements of a first type (2) and light-emitting or light-blocking background grid elements of a second type (3). A foreground grid (4) having completely light-transmissive foreground grid elements (5) and light-attenuating foreground grid elements (6) is arranged in front of the background grid (1) as seen from the direction of a viewer. The foreground gird (4) is arranged at a predetermined distance from the background grid (1) and is aligned in a predetermined lateral position perpendicular to the distance from the background grid (1). In such a display screen for secure representation of information, the completely light-transmissive foreground grid elements (5) and the light-attenuating foreground grid elements (6) are distributed stochastically in a ratio of approximately 50:50 in at least one foreground region of the foreground grid (4). This distribution is used as a key for coding the background grid (1). In at least one background region corresponding to the foreground region, a base coding of the background grid (1) is defined as an inverted distribution of the light-transmissive and light-attenuating foreground grid elements (5, 6), such that light-attenuating foreground grid elements (6) correspond to light-emitting elements background grid elements of the first type (2), and completely light-transmissive foreground grid elements (5) correspond to light-emitting or light-blocking background grid elements of the second type (3). In at least one selected field (7), which defines an information item and lies in the at least one background region, the distribution of light-blocking and light-emitting background grid elements (2, 3) is inverted relative to the base coding, at least in part, as a coding of the information. The lateral dimensions of the foreground grid elements (5, 6), the distance and the lateral position of the foreground grid (4) are matched in relation to the background grid (1) in such a manner that a viewer looking at the foreground grid (4) perceives the coded information in a decoded form, on the basis of a contrast difference and/or color difference in relation to those fields of the background grid (1) that are base-coded, only from one direction of view or one view angle range of up to ±50° about the view direction. The invention also relates to a method for secure representation of information on such a display screen.
