The invention relates to a device which is used to protect an electrical installation against overvoltages. The inventive device consists of: a protection component (10); means (20) for disconnecting the protection component (10); and means (30) for displaying the state of the protection component (10), comprising a control part (40) which can move and a display member (50) which indicates if the protection component (10) is in service or disconnected according to the position of the control part (40). The invention is characterised in that the control part (40) and the disconnection means (20) are disposed such that, when opening, the disconnection means (20) move away sufficiently from the control part (40) in order to release and, in this way, authorise the free movement of the control part (40). The invention also relates to electrical overvoltage protection devices.
