摘要： A portable cart (42) for collecting medical waste in a bag (54) includes a mobile base (44), a frame (50) attached to and located above the base (44), a sensor (72) mounted to the frame (50) for detecting if metal objects are passed through the frame opening and a processor (74) coupled to the sensor (72). The frame (50) has an outer surface and an opening and being adapted to removably mount the bag (54). The sensor asserts a sensor signal when a metal object passes through the frame opening, wherein the sensor signal indicates an amount of metal content in the metal object passed through the frame opening. The processor (74) is configured to, based on the sensor signal, actuate a metal detection alarm, based on the sensor signal, count a number of objects that are discarded into the bag (54) in each of a plurality of categories, each of the categories being associated with a different level of metal content, and store the numbers in the portable cart (42) for later reporting.

摘要： A portable cart for containing medical waste includes a processor for continuously monitoring a signal of a sensor mounted to a frame of the cart for detecting when metal is passed through a frame opening. Based on a comparison between the sensor signal and a threshold signal level, the processor is configured to determine if a first object with a substantial content of metal has passed through the frame opening. If said comparison is positive, an audible alarm of the cart is actuated for a defined period of time, and a light alarm of said cart is actuated until a user-generated command is received. Upon receipt of the user-generated command, the processor negates the actuation of said light alarm. Prior to said processor negating the actuation of said light alarm, said processor is adapted to continue to determine if a second object with a substantial content of metal has passed through the frame opening and, if this determination based on the above comparison is positive, the audible alarm is again actuated for the defined period of time.

摘要： A mobile cart that holds a bag for receiving solid waste generated during a medical or surgical procedure. The cart includes a sensor that monitors whether or not an object containing metal is placed in the bag. A processor monitors the signal output by the sensor. If the sensor signal indicates that an object with a minimal amount of metal is placed in the bag, the processor momentarily asserts an audible alarm and continuously asserts a light alarm. The light alarm remains asserted until turned off. If, while the light alarm is on, the sensor signal indicates a second object with the minimal amount of waste is placed in the container, the processor again momentarily asserts the audible alarm. This provides notice that it may be necessary to investigate the contents of the bag to determine if not one but two or more objects were inadvertently discarded.

摘要： A personal protection system is mountable to a user for distributing air to the user includes a shell providing structure. A fan module is supported by the shell for generating a flow of air. Cushioning is provided between the fan module and the shell to reduce vibrations and noise. The fan module includes a fan with blades having an airfoil shape for added noise reduction. An air flow channel is in fluid communication with the fan module for routing the flow of air. A pair of nozzle tips are in fluid communication with the air flow channel and are rotatably adjustable to allow directional adjustment of the flow of air toward a neck of the user. The personal protection system also includes a face shield with multiple removable layers which are sterilized as a unit using gamma radiation.
