摘要: A back-plate composition of the present invention is a composition for forming a back plate of a brake pad, the brake pad having a friction material and the back plate bonded to the friction material. The back-plate composition includes a resin, a plurality of first fibers and a plurality of second fibers having an average length shorter than an average length of the first fibers. In the case where the average length of the first fibers is "L1" [µm] and the average length of the second fibers is "L2" [µm], "L2"/"L1" is in the range of 0.001 to 0.5. This makes it possible to provide a back-plate composition having excellent moldability, as well as a back plate formed of the back-plate composition, a brake pad including the back-plate and a caliper device provided with the brake pad.

摘要: A brake pad 10 can control rotating of a disc 200. The brake pad 10 includes a friction material 12 provided on a side of the disc 200 and a back plate 11 bonded to the friction material 12 on an opposite side of the disc 200. The back plate 11 has a plurality of non-linear first ridges 111 and/or a plurality of non-linear first grooves 113 and a plurality of second ridges 112 and/or a plurality of second grooves 114 each formed on a surface thereof positioned on a side of the friction material 12 so that a longitudinal direction of the first ridges 111 and/or the first grooves 113 corresponds to a first direction and a longitudinal direction of the second ridges 112 and/or the second grooves 114 corresponds to a second direction intersecting the first direction. The friction material 12 is bonded to the back plate 11 so as to make close contact with a surface defining each first ridge 111 and each second ridge 112 and/or each first groove 113 and each second groove 114 and the surface of the back plate 11 positioned on the side of the friction material 12. An average height of the first ridges 111 and the second ridges 112 or an average depth of the first grooves 113 and the second grooves 114 is preferably in the range of 2 to 6 mm. This makes it possible to provide a brake pad 10 having high bonding strength between the friction material 12 and the back plate 11 and excellent durability, and a caliper device provided with the brake pad 10.

This makes it possible to provide a brake pad 10 having high bonding strength between the friction material 12 and the back plate 11 and excellent durability, and a caliper device provided with the brake pad 10.

A thickness of a region of the back plate 11 where the engagement portion 111 is provided is larger than a thickness of a region of the back plate 11 where the engagement portion 111 is not provided.
