摘要: An overhead transmission cable having a high capacity and a low slackening tendency is proposed. The cable has a conductor and a tension member connected together by means of a connecting member so as to extend parallel to and so as not to contact each other. The tension member may be formed of iron, titanium, aluminum or an alloy thereof, formed by braiding or twisting organic fibers and yarns, or may be formed from a composite of at least one of an organic material and an inorganic material and at least one of a metal and a resin. Tension is applied to the tension member. Since the heat generated in the conductor is never conducted to the tension member, the tension member hardly slackens. Thus, it is possible to increase the capacity of the cable without increasing the sectional area of the conductor. Since both the tension member and the conductor are lighter in weight, there is no need to pull the cable with a large force.
