The present invention relates to a sustained-release pharmaceutical composition comprising a hydroxyalkanoic acid copolymer consisting of a 3-hydroxybutyric acid unit and a 4-hydroxybutyric acid unit, and a biologically active substance. The sustained-release pharmaceutical composition of the present invention can regulate the degree of release of a biologically active agent easily by changing the ratio of the 3-hydroxybutyric acid (3HB) component to the 4-hydroxybutyric acid (4HB) component in P(3HB-co-4HB) as a basic substance and by changing the thickness of its sheet.
