The engagement unit (17) comprises at least a first wheel element (18) adapted to engage a first guiding surface (5) of the track (2) and at least a second wheel element (19) adapted to engage a second guiding surface (6) of the track (2) different from the first guiding surface (5). The cart (3) also comprises a suspension assembly (21) coupled to the first wheel element (18) and/or the second wheel element (19) and being configured to allow for a relative movement between the first wheel element (18) and the second wheel element (19).

The apparatus arranges first items to be suspended from a conveyor (300), and arranges second items on support surfaces of carriers on a transportation track. The first items are capping devices (41) and the second items are containers (40), or vice versa. The apparatus further operates one of a first magnetic arrangement in the transportation track (200) and a second magnetic arrangement in the respective carrier (21) to move the respective carrier (21) on the transportation track (200) into a position beneath the conveyor (300) to align a second item on the respective carrier with a first item suspended by the conveyor), and controls the respective carrier (21) to move the support surface (25) towards the suspended conveyor (300) to engage the second item with the first item.

The conveying device (16) is configured to selectively advance each carrier (23) from the inlet station (17) to one respective mounting station (20) such that the respective mounting device (19) mounts, in use, the respective cap (7) onto the respective package (2) carried by the carrier (23). The conveying device (16) is also configured to advance each carrier (23) from the respective mounting station (20) to the outlet station (18) so as to permit discharging of the respective packages (2) at the outlet station (18).
