The composition comprises fabric lubricant, shape retention polymer, lithium salt, and/or plasticizers for wrinkle control and, optionally, from about 0.1 % to about 20 %, by weight of the composition, of solubilized, water-soluble, uncomplexed cyclodextrin. Optionally, the composition can contain additional ingredients including low molecular weight polyols; metallic salts to help control odor, ionic and nonionic surfactants to improve performance and formulatability, a humectant, etc. the composition is essentially free of any material that would soil or stain fabric. The composition is preferably applied as small particle size droplets, especially from spray containers.

The present invention relates to personal care compositions, especially hair care compositions, containing hydrophobic, linear random copolymers and a hydrophobic, volatile, branched hydrocarbon solvent for the copolymer. The copolymer is formed by the copolymerization of monomer units that form a homopolymer having a Tg of at least 90 °C, and monomer units that form a homopolymer having a Tg of less than 25 °C. The hydrocarbon solvent consists essentially of one or more branched chain hydrocarbons containing from 10 to 16 carbon atoms. The invention relates to hair styling and conditioning products such as rinses, leave on conditioners, and combination shampoo products useful for cleansing, styling and conditioning the hair.

The compositions comprise: a) a silicone functional polymer having the formula selected from the group consisting of: (AB)n; ABA; BAB; (1); (2); and mixtures thereof; (a) wherein B is a silicone moiety comprising repeating units of (3) wherein R is independently, C1-C30 alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, haloalktyl, H, or C1-C6 alkoxy, wherein the weight average molecular weight of each silicone moiety B is independently from about 1,500 to about 50,000; A is a polar polymeric moiety which is soluble or dispersible in mixtures of ethanol and water containing less than 60 % ethanol by weight; and n is an integer of 1 or greater; wherein the molecular weight of the silicone functional polymer is at least about 2,000; b) an organopolysiloxane emulsion comprising: (i) a polyorganosiloxane dispersed as particles in the emulsion, the polyorganosiloxane having an average particle size of less than about 150 nanometers, and (ii) a surfactant system for dispersing the organopolysiloxane in the emulsion; c) a carrier comprising at least about 0.5 %, by weight of the composition, of a first solvent selected from the group consisting of water; water soluble organic solvents; organic solvents which are strongly to moderately strong in hydrogen-bonding parameter; and mixtures thereof; wherein the first solvent is other than C1-C3 monohydric alcohol, C1-C3 ketone and C1-C3 ether, wherein the silicone functional polymer is present in an amount effective to stabilize the emulsion in the personal care composition.

The present invention relates to hairspray compositions comprising from about 50 % to about 99.9 % by weight of an alcohol solvent, and from about 0.1 % to about 30 % by weight of a silicone-containing adhesive block copolymer having a weight average molecular weight from about 10,000 grams/mole to about 10,000,000 grams/mole and which is formed from the free radical polymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer with select silicone macroinitiators, preferably silicone macroazoinitiators. The hairspray compositions, when dried, preferably have a cohesive strength of greater than about 0.5 kgf/mm2, a total energy absorption per unit volume of greater than about 0.55 kgfmm/mm3, an impact strength of greater than about 7000 ergs, and an improved removeability from hair as defined by a hair stiffness value of from 0 to about 3.5 (0 to 4 scale) and a hair flaking value of from 0 to about 3.5 (0 to 4 scale). These hairspray compositions provide improved hair styling performance, and in particular provide improved maintenance or hold when applied to dry hair and causes minimal or no drooping of the hair during or immediately after application.

Disclosed are hair styling shampoo compositions which deliver improved cleansing, lathering, and styling performance. These shampoo compositions comprise an alkyl glyceryl ether sulfonate surfactant, a hair styling polymer comprising one or more select hydrophobic monomer units, a non-polar volatile solvent, and water. Also disclosed are methods of cleansing and styling hair by using the hair styling shampoo compositions herein.
