摘要： An aircraft carried smoke bomb includes a braking parachute (22) which slows down the bomb after it is released from an aircraft. At some point in its downward travel main parachutes (40) are deployed as the tail and nose sections (12, 16) are ejected. Smoke starts exiting through the opposite ends of the remaining body as the bomb drops down slowly to the ground.

摘要： A pyrotechnic, aircraft carried bomb such as a smoke bomb, illumination bomb, flare bomb and the like. The bomb comprises detachable tail (1) and nose (2) sections and two main body sections (3, 4) separable from each other and each holding a pyrotechnic charge (82, 83). The tail section (1) houses a braking parachute (22) which is deployed by the action of a time fuze (10) upon release from the carrier aircraft. The tail and nose sections (1, 2) further house each a main parachute associated each with one of the main body sections (3, 4). After a certain delay the deployed braking parachute (22) starts an ignition train (43, 57) which causes ejection of the tail and front sections, deployment of the main parachutes, separation of the two main body sections from each other and ignition of the pyrotechnic charges (82, 83) therein. The two main body sections (3, 4) parachute down and reach the ground in solft landing with the pyrotechnic charges (82, 83) burning during the descent and, if desired, they may be arranged to continue to burn for a while after landing, e.g. in case of a smoke bomb.
