摘要： An apparatus and a method for processing a plurality of programs are provided having the following features. A program may be selected from a plurality of programs for recording. The selected programs is then stored into a first list of programs representing programs selected for recording. A program may also be selected from the plurality of programs for both purchasing and recording. The selected program is then stored into a second list of programs representing programs purchased. This selected program is also automatically stored into the first list of programs representing programs selected for recording. In addition, when cancelling, a previously purchased program, a determination is made to see whether the purchased program also appears in the list of programs selected for recording. If it appears in the recording list, then the program is also automatically removed from the recording list, when the purchase is cancelled.

摘要： An apparatus and a method for processing channel guide information containing program descriptions for programs, including the following. The channel guide information is stored in a memory. A user-entered request and a text string having one or more user-selectable characters may be entered by a user. The programs are then sorted in alphabetical order according to the program description to form an alpha-sorted list, in response to the user request. An alphabetical list of programs is then displayed with the first program on the list being a program having a program description matching the user-entered text string, if one can be located.

摘要： An apparatus and a method for processing programs indicated by the associated program description to be audio-only programs, including the following. A respective program description for programs is received. Upon user selection of a program, a determination is made as to whether the selected program is an audio-only program. If the selected program is an audio-only program, then preprogrammed on-screen display information is displayed while the selected audio-only program is played to provide additional visual entertainment for users.
