It is presented a method for determining a position of a wireless device within a single radio cell served by a plurality of remote radio heads. The method is performed in a position determination node and comprises the steps of: receiving a measured power signature comprising at least two, in time separated, power measurement values of a downlink signal, the measured power signature originating from the wireless device; comparing the measured power signature with a set of reference power signatures, wherein each one of the plurality of remote radio heads is associated with a reference power signature and the reference power signatures differ for at least two of the plurality of remote radio heads; and determining a position in that the wireless device is in the vicinity of one of the at least one remote radio head whose reference power signature best matches the measured power signature.

In a mobile station for use in a cellular radio system, the mobile station is adapted to increase radio measurements relating to the currently best cell at times when the user is preparing to set up a call in order to increase the likelihood that a mobile station is camping in the correct cell when setting up a call. This is obtained by adding a third mode to the already existing idle and active modes. The additional mode provides for an increased amount of idle mode measurements compared to the conventional idle mode.

In a method and a transmitter data is transmitted to two mobile stations sharing the same frequency band and the same timeslot. The data is modulated using a quaternary symbol constellation. Further, the data is transmitted to two mobile stations multiplexed on a shared channel comprising two branches and the transmission power for the transmitted data is set in response to the relative gain of the two branches. Hereby, the total system interference is reduced. The method and transmitter further allows for a cellular radio system individual power control loops for the two sub-channels when the system uses MUROS.
