A folding mechanism comprising a first support (20), a second support (22) pivotably coupled to the first support and an actuator (24) operable to pivot said second support relative to the first support about a first pivot axis (P) between a deployed position and a folded position. An elongate support strut (26) extends between the first and second supports, the support strut being adapted to permit movement of the second support about the first pivot axis when the support strut is in a first state. The support strut is adapted to retain the second support in the deployed position when the support strut is in a second state. The support strut is coupled to the actuator such that the support strut is reconfigured between its first and second states as the actuator is operated to pivot the second support between its folded and deployed positions.
