A balloon catheter 10 has a balloon 12 at a distal portion of a catheter shaft 11, and is provided on a surface of the balloon 12 with a plurality of elongate bodies 33 which are crystals of a water-insoluble drug extending while having independent long axes. The balloon 12 in a deflated state has a plurality of wing portions 40 in a circumferential direction, and a circumferential surface portion 41 along a circumferential direction of the catheter shaft 11, the wing portions 40 being folded along the circumferential direction of the balloon 12.
