摘要: A pneumatic tire (10) is disclosed. The tire (10) comprises a tread (12) and a belt reinforcement structure (50) located radially inward of the tread (12). The belt reinforcement structure (50) includes a first working belt (54) comprising cords or wire and a second working belt (56) comprising cords or wire. The angles of the cords of the wire in the first and second working belts (54, 56) range from +/- 12 degrees to +/-36 degrees with respect to the circumferential direction. The belt reinforcement structure (50) further comprises a relatively low angle belt (58) comprising cords or wire angled at an angle of less than +/- 5 degrees with respect to the circumferential direction. It further includes a protector belt (62) located radially outwards of the first and second working belt (54, 56). The protector belt (62) comprises cords or wire having an energy absorption of more than 7.5 J/mm 2 .

The circumferential groove (22) has an angled axially inner sidewall (161, 171), an angled axially outer sidewall (162, 172), and a curved base surface (163, 173). The stabilizing structure (220) extends radially inward of the curved base surface (163, 173).

The tire (21) further has a carcass reinforcing ply (29) including a ply turnup (33), each ply turnup (33) including a radially outward ply end (35), and a chipper (37) disposed at each ply turnup (33) with a radially outward chipper end (39) that is located radially below the radially outward ply end (35). The profile of the axially outer surface of the sidewall portion (27) is at a distance G from the carcass reinforcing ply (29) from the axially most outward point of the axially outer surface (43) until a point A, and joins the axially outer surface (43) of the bead portion (23) at a point B. The axially outer surface of the sidewall portion (27) follows a first curve extending from the point A and having a center of curvature positioned axially outward of the carcass reinforcing ply (29) and a second curve joining the point B and having a center of curvature positioned axially inward of the axially outer surface of the tire (21). The profile of the axially outer surface of the sidewall portion (27) in the portion extending from points A to B is tangent to a circle C1 that is centered on the radially outward ply end (35). In one aspect, the circle C1 has a radius R1 ranging from 5 to 15 mm and the profile of the axially outer surface of the sidewall portion (27) in the point B is tangent to a circle C2 centered on the radially outward chipper end (39). In another aspect, the distance of the point A from the radially outward ply end (35) is ranging from 10 to 30 mm. In yet another aspect, the profile of the axially outer surface of the sidewall portion (27) in the point B is tangent to a circle C2 centered on a radially outward chipper end (39) and the distance of the point A from the radially outward ply end (35) is ranging from 10 mm to 30 mm.
