A reinforcement sleeve (15) is arranged on an outer face (14) of the damper tube (10), and a holding fork (16) for attaching to the chassis can be arranged on the reinforcement sleeve. The reinforcement sleeve (15) is delimited by a circumferential edge (17) in the direction of the longitudinal axis. According to the invention, a sealing element (18) which surrounds the outer face (14) of the damper tube (10) is received in the reinforcement sleeve (15) in the region of the circumferential edge (17), and the circumferential edge (17) has a plastically deformed deformation section (19) which surrounds the sealing element (18). The invention further relates to a method for arranging the reinforcement sleeve (15) on the outer face (14) of the damper tube (10).
