The invention relates to a method for separating crystalline graphite from a solids mixture containing carbon, particularly blast furnace dusts, with the purpose of producing superpure crystalline graphite or for highly precise determination of the purity level of solids mixtures containing crystalline graphite. According to the inventive method, the solids mixture containing carbon undergoes heat treatment in an aqueous solution which contains at least one oxidizing acid and/or one oxidizing agent or a non-oxidizing acid and an oxidizing agent at a maximum pressure of 1000 bar, whereby the acid and/or the oxidizing agent decomposes all substances of the solids mixture contained in the aqueous solution so that the crystalline graphite can then be separated from the aqueous solution using conventional separation methods.
