The object of providing such a method and such a device that allow a simpler construction of the tool, a self-centring system and at the same time a reliable, dimensionally accurate production of flanged drawn parts is achieved by the supporting region (6) being formed in an elevated and stationary manner with respect to the flange region (3), the difference in height (4) corresponding at least to the wall thickness of the blank (10, 12), and the cutting edge (9) or rounded portion (91) provided on the drawing punch (1) engaging with a rounded portion (8) or cutting edge (81) provided at the transition between the supporting region (6) and the flange region (3) while the drawing punch (1) is moving into the drawing die (2), and so regions of the blank (10, 12) that project beyond the flange region (3) are cut off during the further drawing operation.

The invention relates to a process for producing a hollow body from metal, said hollow body having at least one first axial portion with a first cross-sectional area and a second axial portion with a second cross-sectional area, and in which the two axial portions of the hollow body are connected to one another by means of a shape transition running in the axial direction, wherein a preform body having at least one transition region which extends in the axial direction of the hollow body to be produced and is arranged between the first axial portion and the second axial portion is produced, wherein, in the transition region, the cross-sectional area of the preform body preferably continuously changes from the cross-sectional area of the first axial portion into the cross-sectional area of the second axial portion, the preform body (1) is accommodated in a die (5), wherein the die (5) has the final external shape of the hollow body to be produced, a shaping mandrel (7) is inserted into the preform body (1), wherein the shaping mandrel (7) has the internal shape of the hollow body to be produced, and an axial movement of the shaping mandrel (7) upsets the preform body (1) in the die (5) into the final shape of the hollow body.
