摘要： Composite rods and tapes are provided. In one embodiment, a composite rod includes a core, the core including a thermoplastic material and a plurality of continuous fibers embedded in the thermoplastic material. The plurality of continuous fibers have a generally unidirectional orientation within the thermoplastic material. The core further includes one or more sensing elements embedded in the thermoplastic material. The core has a void fraction of about 5% or less. A sensing element may be, for example, fiber optic cable, a radio frequency identification transmitter, a copper fiber, or an aluminum fiber.
