Abstract:
An optical fiber connector that is mechanically connectable to another optical fiber connector. The optical fiber connector includes an optical fiber with a bare end. The bare end has an end face and includes a core and a cladding that surrounds the core. The cladding has a radius of curvature at the end face in the range from 0.4 mm to 4 mm, and/or the core protrudes from the cladding with a protrusion height in the range from 10 to 200 nm, preferably in the range from 10 to 150 nm, and more preferably in the range from 30 to 60 nm.

Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a fiber optic connector including a connector body (122) having a front end and a rear end. A shutter (74) is mounted at the front end of the connector body (122). The shutter (74) is movable relative to the connector body (122) between an open position and a closed position. The fiber optic connector (69) includes an optical fiber (100) having an end face that is accessible at the front end of the connector body (122) when the shutter (74) is in the open position. The fiber optic connector (69) also includes a cleaning material (501) provided at an inner side of the shutter (74) that covers the end face of the optical fiber (100) when the shutter (74) is in the closed position.
Abstract:
A method is provided for sealing a container (10) into which optical fibres (11) are fed. A portion of the optical fibres (11) is accommodated between two strips (3, 4) which are sealed together by applying heat and/or pressure. The strips are then placed in an opening of the container and the container is sealed. The strips (3, 4), which may be made of plastic, support the fibres (11) while providing an excellent seal.
