    摘要: Method and system for sorting a series of plants (11-13,54-56)) arranged in a carrier (16,46), such as a roller trough (16), on the basis of characteristics. For this purpose said series of plants (11-13,54-56) is transferred in its entirety from such a carrier (16,46) to a first intermediate storage (20,57). From each intermediate storage (20,57) the plants are collected into a series in a first (24), second (25) or further buffer (26), respectively. In the interim, the carrier (16,46) is moved from the first transfer position to a second transfer position. When a complete series of plants with a specific characteristic has been collected in one of the buffers (24,25,26), this series of plants is transferred in its entirety to the carrier (16,46), which is now empty and optionally has been cleaned, at said second transfer position. The system can be provided with an evaluation system such as a camera (19) system for determining the characteristics of each individual plant. For positioning the individual plants some distance apart for the purposes of the evaluation, the system can be provided with a preliminary storage, upstream of the first intermediate storage, into which the series of plants is transferred from the carrier, the plant being evaluated during movement from the preliminary storage to the first intermediate storage.

    摘要: Conveyor comprising an elongated flat support with a belt positioned thereon. Driving of the belt takes place by friction as a consequence of the contact force between the belt and a drive roller, which contact force increases on motion and is initiated by a low force with which said belt is pressed onto said drive roller by a pressure roller at the location where the return part of said belt leaves said drive roller. Apart from a very low contact force for starting the movement, contact pressure is applied only during driving, the contact force being proportional to the driving force of the conveyor that is actually required. According to the invention there are two pressure rollers located on either side of the drive roller, the movement of said pressure rollers being linked in such a way that when one pressure roller is moved away from the belt by the force generated by driving the belt the other pressure roller is moved towards the belt and thus provides the initiating contact force between conveyor belt and drive roller.

In order to ensure the correct positioning of the belt over great distances, steering rollers are provided which are arranged transversely opposite one another in the direction of transport of the belt. The steering rollers are embodied such that the upper side thereof is level with the upper side of the parts of the conveying belt run which are situated further upstream and further downstream, respectively. Viewed in the transverse direction, the steering rollers close the belt in on both sides between grooves provided for that purpose. The bottoms of the grooves are at a distance which is greater than the width of the belt in said location and the surface of the steering rollers which engages with the belt run is of conical design. This ensures that the position of the belt run is automatically corrected.
