摘要： An electric motor (10) for a laundry appliance (12) includes a first stator (24) having a central axis (50). A first rotor (30) is in electromagnetic communication with the first stator (24) and is rotationally operable about the central axis (50). A second stator (26) is aligned with the central axis (50). A second rotor (32) is in electromagnetic communication with the second stator (26) and is rotationally operable about the central axis (50). The first and second stators (24, 26) are positioned within a common motor cavity (64) of an outer housing (62). A controller (38) regulates a first electrical current (36) to the first stator (24) and a second electrical current (42) to the second stator (26). The controller (38) includes a torque discrimination module (34) for monitoring an output torque (70) of at least the first rotor (30).

摘要： An axial flux motor (10) for an appliance (12) includes a stator yoke (18). A plurality of stator teeth (20) extend from the stator yoke (18) in an axial direction and are positioned about a central rotational axis. Each stator tooth (20) includes a plurality of first laminations (50a) and second laminations (50b) that extend in the axial direction and form a "T" shaped member. The plurality of stator teeth (20) are overmolded with a polymeric material (26) to define a plurality of axial stator poles (28). At least one winding (32) extends around the plurality of axial stator poles (28). A ring-shaped rotor (34) rotates about the central rotational axis of the stator yoke (18). The rotor (34) is positioned proximate an axial end (38) of the plurality of axial stator poles (28).

A reinforcing cap (10) is fixed to the structural ribs (26) of the rear wall (12) of the tub (14). The bearing housing (40) of the drive hub (24) extends rearwards through a portion of the reinforcing cap (10). The stator fastening portions (34) are exposed through the reinforcing cap (10).
