摘要: An airbag case that stores an airbag is disposed on a hood inner panel (44) at a location close to an engine compartment. The airbag case is not fixed directly to a hood outer panel (42). An opening is formed in a portion of the hood outer panel located on a rear side of the airbag case (76) as viewed in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. In the opening, there is provided a hood garnish panel (48) that turns over rearward upon deployment of the airbag.

摘要: If a control device determines that a collision during a vehicle run has been detected on the basis of a combination of an output signal of a sensor and a vehicle speed signal, an inflator (20) is actuated so as to inflate and deploy an air bag body (24) disposed in an apron upper member (28). When inflated and deployed, the air bag body (24) raises a longitudinal-direction central portion (26A) of a hood (26). At this time, the longitudinal-direction central portion (26A) of the hood (26) bends with a depression (36) serving as an origin of bending.

摘要: A pedestrian perception alert system configured to issue a warning during real-time when a driver's visual detection of a pedestrian is difficult, and a method thereof is provided. The system includes a video camera, an alert for issuing a warning, a processor, and a Pedestrian Detection Unit ("PDU"). The PDU analyzes the video camera image to detect a pedestrian. A Global Clutter Analysis Unit ("GCAU") generates a global clutter score. A Local Pedestrian Clutter Analysis Unit ("LPCAU") generates a local pedestrian clutter score. The processer processes the global clutter score and local pedestrian clutter score so as to generate a pedestrian detection score. The alert is actuated when the pedestrian detection score is outside of a predetermined threshold so as to notify the driver that perception of a pedestrian is difficult at that time.

摘要: An optical fiber sensor (1) for the vehicle has an optical fiber (2), a light emitting means (30) for emitting a light to a first end (20) of the optical fiber (2), a light receiving means (31) for receiving a light radiated from a second end (21) of the optical fiber (2), and a calculation means (32) for detecting a condition change of the optical fiber (2) based on the light emitted from the light emitting means (30) and the light received in the light receiving means (31), to thereby detect a collision of a vehicle. At a time of starting an operation, an initial check is performed by emitting the light from the light emitting means (30) and comparing the light passed through the optical fiber (2) and received in the light emitting means (31) to the light emitted from the light emitting means (30).
