摘要: A mobile communications device is described which includes an input sensor, a memory unit, processing unit, and an antenna configured to wirelessly transmit and receive financial account data for a transaction. The antenna is configured to receive a request for data stored on the memory unit, and may also be configured to induce a voltage from a magnetic field to power certain components of the device. The input sensor may control whether the components can be so powered from the magnetic field. Alternatively, input from the input sensor may otherwise control the functionality of the device. By way of example, data representative of an input received by the input sensor may be transmitted in addition to the requested data.

摘要: Transaction card assemblies, systems and methods of making are provided. One such assembly includes a card carrier having a card integrally formed within. The card peripherally engages the card carrier and is adapted to be removed from the card carrier. An encodable strip is disposed on the card. The strip has first and second encodable tracks. The first encodable track is positioned to be read by a point-of-sale device when the card is engaged with the card carrier, and the second encodable track is positioned to be read by the point-of-sale device after the card is separated from the carrier. In this manner, the card can be read using the same point-of-sale device whether or not the card has been separated from the carrier.

摘要: A network arrangement is provided for processing credit transactions. A financial network is used to route communications securely between interfaces with the financial network. Merchant systems are coupled with the interfaces, with each merchant system transmitting requests for authorization of credit transactions through the financial network. An issuer system authorizes credit transactions in response to receipt of requests that specify at least a credit account to be used to support a particular credit transaction and a transaction amount for the particular credit transaction. A guarantor system separate from the issuer system determines whether to guarantee credit transactions in response to the requests and transmits responses indicating whether specific credit transactions are to be guaranteed through the financial network to the merchant systems.

摘要: A transaction authorization system comprises an authorization engine (18) configured to perform an analysis in relation to a received request for authorization of a current electronic payment transaction and generate an authorization output based on the analysis, and a database (22) storing a plurality of transaction records for past electronic payment transactions. The authorization engine is configured to:
    - access the database to determine one or more distribution functions based on at least some of the stored transaction records,
    - determine one or more intermediate values in relation to the received authorization request based on the one or more distribution functions,
    - determine a conditional probability in relation to the one or more intermediate values based on at least some of the stored transaction records, the conditional probability indicative of a probability of a predetermined transaction result under the condition of the one or more intermediate values, and
    - generate the authorization output based on the determined conditional probability.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for processing transactions, and more specifically for receiving, processing and transmitting electronic payment transaction information. The system and method accesses a transaction software engine (111) that effectuates the authorization of electronic payment requests and the settlement of authorized electronic payments. The transaction software engine (111), in accordance with an embodiment of the invention, resides at a merchant's site (100) and more specifically within the merchant's server (110) or computer which is in communication with one or more network terminals. With such a system, authorization requests may be sent by a terminal as each transaction occurs. Batches of settlement requests are processed after a predetermined time, although the transactions are processed on a transaction-by-transaction basis. In addition, the software engine enables the transmission of data over the Internet (120). As a result, the amount of time to process payment authorization and settlement is reduced as compared with the exclusive use of traditional telephone lines. Moreover, the transaction software engine is capable of accepting data of varying formats and reencoding such data so that it can be processed by the transaction software engine (111). As a result, the transaction software engine (111) can process data that is received from and sent to a variety of terminals as well as data that is sent to and received from a variety of data transaction providers host (142).

摘要: A method of reading cards includes receiving card carrier information for each of at least two card carriers. The card carrier information identifies at least one card relating to each card carrier. The method also includes reading card information from a card a first time, reading card information from the card a second time, comparing the card information as read the first time to the card information as read the second time, rejecting the card if the card information is inconsistent, comparing the card information as read either the first time or the second time to the card carrier information, rejecting the card if the card information does not match the card carrier information for one of the at least two card carriers, and mounting the card to one of the at least two carriers if the cards' card information matches the card carrier information of the carrier.
